Music Festival

The Music Festival is one of the major events that will take place on a competition and a non competition level. However, there are certain criteria for the competition entries which will take part from all over India. The music festival will give a platform to young people where they can showcase their talents. The participants in the competition have to follow the terms and conditions set by the judging panel with outmost respect. The theme of the Festival being ‘Voices of Dignity’, the contestants must come up with their original compositions which will reflect the theme of the Festival. CONTEST CATEGORIES FOR STUDENTS AND NON PROFESSIONAL BANDS
All genres of music are accepted: Hindi and English.

CONTEST PHILOSOPHY
Our ultimate mission with the contest and showcase at the International Week of Justice Festival is to bring together young artistic talents from across the country with the main objective of creating awareness on Amnesty International India’s human rights goals against death penalty, torture, impunity, right to life, disappearance, championing the rights of women and girls, advancing economic, social and cultural rights and substantive dignity.

JUDGING STANDARDS
The jury will be comprised of active musicians and personalities from the music industry and media of the country. The panel’s decision is final in all matters regarding the selection process. No correspondence will be entertained.

**IMPORTANT NOTES**

We do not return any tapes/CD, photos, etc so please do not send your originals or your only master copy.
All decisions are final and no further correspondence will be entered into.
You are obliged to notify us if the contact information you provide changes in any way

Terms and Conditions
The mode of contest will be carried out in two phases, where in phase one, screening will be done through audio tapes/CDs and in phase two, the short listed contestants will perform live.

Bands must submit a tape or CD of their original or music that is commercially produced.
On the CD, a total of four songs to submit is ideal. Note that only the first two songs will be screened during early stages of the selection process.
A comprehensive biography of the band, along with photographs, mailing address, email and phone number of all the band members will be ideal.
The requirements for you to be eligible for a student entry are:
     an undergraduate or graduate student
     provide a photocopy of your current student ID with your entry
Amnesty International India reserves the right to use the names, photographs, voice of the winner and entries of the contest winner for publicity purposes without obtaining any consent or payment to the contest winner.
Finalists will be scheduled for performance in the Week of Justice finals on day, month date, 2008.
The final performing bands will be part of the Amnesty International India music album.
Any band giving false, unsubstantiated or misleading information on the application form will be disqualified.
The jury will have access to all the information provided on each band’s entry form.
Band selection is made at the jury’s sole discretion. The panel’s decision is final in all matters regarding the selection process. No correspondence will be entertained.
Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted or redeemed for cash.
Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in disqualification.
